THERAPIST
Alyssa Darden, M.Ed., Resident In Counseling
Alyssa grew up in a military household and had experienced how mental health struggles within the community and home life can affect the individual and collective from a young age. Alyssa has worked with military and government personnel and grew an interest in mental health as she experienced first hand what trauma and separation can do to the home and community.
Alyssa began working in the mental health field shortly after receiving her bachelors in Psychology working as an intensive in-home clinician, mental health skill building and provided therapeutic day treatment to local Spotsylvania High schools. Alyssa has graduated in December with her Master's in Education with a concentration in clinical mental health counseling. Through this experience she specializes in working with teens, and adults.
Alyssa uses various therapeutic techniques and skills to meet the needs of her clients. These include but are not limited to: Psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused, and Strength Based approaches to assist her clients to achieve the goals they wish to set for themselves.
Alyssa advocates for her clients to identify their strengths within themselves, through their community and support systems to ensure the client of what they are capable of achieving. Thus allowing the time spent in session to be meaningful and effective in creating a positive change within the client.
