THERAPIST
Kaley Wresch, MSW, Supervisee In Social Work
Kaley Wresch, Supervisee in Social Work, focuses much of her work on trauma treatment, but also enjoys working with individuals and couples who are navigating life transitions and searching for greater personal insight. Upon completing her undergraduate degrees, Kaley initially explored the world of academia before deciding to shift her focus to mental health. She returned to school and received her Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky.
Prior to finding her home in clinical practice, Kaley worked in the field of victim services, assisting victims of crime in traversing their recovery and providing support to victim advocates who experienced vicarious trauma.
Kaley utilizes attachment theory and psychodynamic techniques to help clients better understand how their pasts and early development affect how they engage with the world now, as well as techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients cope and set goals within their current environment. Kaley is also trained in EMDR, a treatment approach that utilizes the inherent strengths of the brain to reprocess traumatic or overwhelming events. When working with couples, Kaley leans heavily on Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy, which focuses on restoring and strengthening the emotional bond between partners.
Kaley believes that therapy looks different for everyone and she is passionate about learning about each of her clients to find the approach that will best fit their goals. Kaley practices through a trauma-informed lens, with cultural humility, and celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community.
