Sierra Horton, MSW, Supervisee In Social Work
Sierra Horton is a Supervisee in Social Work. Sierra’s work is grounded in the understanding that every person has layers to their identity, which forms their own unique experience. Aiming to allow every client the freedom to feel seen and understood, she believes in sharing her knowledge of psychoeducation and highlighting a person’s strengths as a means of processing trauma and life events.
She earned a BS in Psychology from the University of Mary Washington and a Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a published researcher with a focus on the psychological and social impacts of trauma. As a first-generation college student, Sierra utilizes both her education and diverse experience in her practice.
She enjoys working with an array of clients, including those facing life transitions, everyday stressors, and traumatic experiences. Sierra integrates cognitive and somatic-based techniques, approaching therapy from a holistic, systems perspective to help clients explore and challenge their self-perceptions.
