Carrie Sheehan, MSW, Supervisee In Social Work

Carrie Sheehan is a Supervisee in Social Work (SISW) and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor Under Supervision (CSAC-US), who received both her Bachelors and Masters in Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2022. She was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, and grew up in a large military family.

Some of Carrie’s past experiences include serving individuals who are living with HIV and/or AIDS, substance use disorders, severe mental illness (SMI), and at-risk youth. Other areas of experience include Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), group therapy, and crisis management. Carrie is also well-versed in treating co-occurring disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, bi-polar I & II, schizophrenia, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Carrie is committed to non-judgmental acceptance and respect for the dignity, rights, and worth of individuals. She utilizes many social work practices and interventions such as: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, self-care, and results-oriented approach.
