Essence Mitchell, Resident in Counseling

Essence Mitchell, Resident in Counseling, is a dedicated and compassionate psychotherapist. She believes in creating a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can truly be themselves and share their thoughts, emotions and life experiences. Her goal is to help clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to work toward meaningful change at their own pace.

With a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and a background in criminal justice and sociology, Essence takes a holistic and culturally responsive approach to therapy. She specializes in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationships. As a culturally competent therapist, Essence is committed to ensuring that all clients feel safe, valued, and understood.

Essence has experience working in outpatient, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) settings. She utilizes evidence-based approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and person-centered therapy. Tailoring sessions to each client’s needs, she incorporates strength-based and solution-focused techniques.

Clients can expect an empathetic and engaging experience that fosters growth and resilience. Whether working through personal struggles or life transitions, Essence is here to support and empower you every step of the way. In her free time, Essence enjoys spending time with family and friends, taking walks with her dog, listening to music, and making candles.
