THERAPIST
Fred Zumwalt, MA, Resident In Counseling
My family and I have lived in the Fredericksburg area since 1985. After retiring from the federal government in 2013, I pursued my interests in community service and professional counseling. Since retirement, I have worked as a volunteer with hospice and dementia organizations and patients, served as a housing stabilization navigator for a local organization who works with homeless neighbors, and I continue to be active in church community. After retiring, I was humbly pleased to be able to obtain a Bachelor's degree in psychology and a Master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Regent University.
For years, I have spent time with young and not-so-young people both in volunteer and professional settings and very much enjoy engaging, on a personal level, with individuals who desire and appreciate a safe and non-judgmental working environment. I believe the best set of relational skills I can offer anyone is providing calming presence with attentive listening. I am willing and prepared to assist individuals who are experiencing personal grief and loss, anxiety, depression, or interpersonal conflict by walking with you on your personal journey and being as aware as I am able of what you are feeling or saying.
I enjoy my free time, when I have some. I like the Dandy Warhols, April Tenth, spicy food, gardening, silent retreats, computer games, ham radio, and interesting people. Life can be good and we should try to be thankful for every happy moment and positive relationship that comes our way.
