Sarah Spinner, LCSW
Sarah Spinner, LCSW, is a trauma-informed therapist who provides a safe space for clients to identify their feelings, process life situations, and to navigate presenting challenges. Whether a client needs support, a listening ear, and/or treatment solutions–Sarah is here to listen.
Sarah received her Masters in Clinical Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University and has a Graduate Certificate in Gender Violence Intervention. In addition, she has worked in domestic violence agencies, assisted in the legal court system, and has extensive case management knowledge. Sarah is currently licensed by the state of Virginia to provide clinical services. She brings a warm, bubbly energy, has seen and heard it all, and ensures that clients are never judged for how they feel in sessions. Sarah is also a proud ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and is body-positive aligned.
Sarah is experienced in the following treatment modalities and interventions: addiction recovery, case management, play therapeutic techniques, mindfulness, sand tray work, art therapeutic techniques, sensory skill building, emotional identification, and grounding skills. Sarah also incorporates many sociological and social work theories into her practice. This includes the strengths-based perspective, empowerment theory, DBT/CBT modalities, expressive/direct play with children, and mindfulness training. Sarah feels that everyone is human and that it's normal to struggle with life challenges. She currently works with clients aged 2 and up.
In her spare free time, Sarah loves to play video games, attend comic conventions, and spend time with her husband and two kitties. She is also a certified United States Figure Skating (USFS) Learn to Skate coach, and works with beginning skaters aged 4 and up.
