Taisha Chavez, LPC

With a passion for empowering youth, Taisha Chavez, LPC, has dedicated her over 16 years of experience supporting kids and teens through the twists and turns they encounter in their lives. Taisha, who is affectionately known to her clients as “Ms. T”, believes every child, regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, or background, deserves a safe and purposeful life.

With expertise in school, community, and outpatient settings, Ms. T brings a lighthearted and playful spirit to her counseling sessions, fostering comfort and exploration. She specializes in working with children ages 2 to 18 and young adults up to 25, addressing concerns such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, behavioral challenges, autism, PTSD, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. Ms. T empowers youth by helping them express their feelings, cope with difficulties, and find the best solutions for themselves while providing caregivers with valuable resources to nurture positive relationships.

Utilizing a creative blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) techniques, Ms. T incorporates play, art, and mindfulness into her practice. Ms. T holds an M.Ed. in Counseling and Development from George Mason University and has specialized training in EMDR, Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), and Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE).

Ms. T is an accomplished advocate for youth and families with extensive experience in community service leadership. As the Director of Children’s Programs within a community services board, she has successfully overseen and expanded programs for pregnant and postpartum mothers, infant and toddler services, Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), children’s support coordination, and prevention services.  In recent years, Ms. T has played a key role in the organization of numerous community events, including  “Stamping Out Suicide," where she engaged with community leaders and advocates to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention strategies. Additionally, she has been actively involved in Virginia’s statewide implementation of the Zero Suicide framework, educating and assisting communities in improving their suicide prevention efforts.


Through these experiences, Ms. T has built a robust network of community connections and resources, further strengthening her commitment to fostering safe and supportive environments for youth and families.
