Taisha Chavez, LPC

Taisha believes that because we all ebb and flow emotionally and mentally, each individual’s internal battle is unique and should not be stigmatized or judged negatively. Taisha understands that sometimes the stressors in our lives can cause us to become overwhelmed and she would like to assist you on a path of healing, hope, and recovery.

Taisha’s journey began after graduating in 2007 from George Mason University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology. During her first 8 years in the field, Taisha dedicated herself to supporting children living with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, and behavioral concerns within the school setting by providing one on one assistance and therapeutic day treatment (TDT) services. Additionally, Taisha provided intensive in-home and mentoring services to at-risk youth with the goal of maintaining youth in their least restrictive environments.

In 2015, Taisha received a Master’s in Education with a concentration of Counseling and Developmentfrom George Mason University. During her internship and clinical residency, Taisha gained more experience working with adults with a variety of concerns related to depression, anxiety, grief, trauma,and suicidal ideation. Additionally, Taisha has worked as a Director and Manager of Children’s Services programs at a Community Services Board overseeing its Early Intervention Services, Children’s case management, Substance Use disorder LINK program, and Prevention services.

In her over 16 years of experience, Taisha has worked with children, adolescents, and adults with a range of concerns including: ADHD, depression, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, behavioral concerns, postpartum depression, bipolar, domestic violence, abuse and neglect, substance use disorder, self-harm, and suicidal ideation.

Taisha utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused, and mindfulness techniques to assist you in building your resilience through challenging times. Taisha believes that no matter your age, gender, sexual orientation, ability, or cultural background that you deserve a life that is safe and with direction.

In her spare time, Taisha enjoys traveling, learning about new cultures, dancing, cuddling with her dogs,and spending time with her family and friends. Taisha looks forward to meeting and working together with you!
